This golf gift finder gives you a shortlist in three taps: who it's for, what you'll spend and the sort of present you want. It draws on 38 real gifts on sale in the UK. All but the Topgolf gift card carry a dated price. You don't need to know a thing about golf.
Every idea came from a seller's page opened on 5 November 2026. Our how we choose page sets out the method. Try the finder first, then read the two-minute check further down, because that's what stops a perfectly good present turning into something that lives in a drawer until you next move house.
How to use the golf gift finder
- Tap who it's for. Dad, partner, mum, a friend, a beginner or a keen golfer who already owns plenty.
- Tap your budget. Five bands run from stocking fillers under £25 to big presents over £300.
- Tap a type, or leave it on Anything. Gadget, practical, personalised, funny or an experience.
- Read the line under each idea. It says why the gift works and what to look out for, with a link to the seller.
- Press Reset to start again. Nothing you tap gets saved or sent anywhere.
How the finder chooses
There's no quiz score behind it. Just one plain rule. A gift appears when it's tagged for your person and sits in your budget band and matches your type, or any type if you left it on Anything. Ideas then run from the cheapest up, eight at most.
Say you're buying for your dad with £25 to £50 to spend and you want a laugh. Those three taps bring up one answer: a fuzzy lion that sits over his driver. Switch Funny to Anything and eight ideas appear, from umbrellas to a dozen golf balls.
Now ask for something funny for your mum at over £300. Nothing fits, so the finder drops the type, says so and shows the closest two. That's a large voucher and an electric trolley, which beats being sold a £300 joke.
The two-minute check before you buy a golf gift
Golfers are fussy, which is the whole problem with buying for one.
Happily, most of what you need to know is sitting in their bag, so wait until they're out and take a look.
| If you're buying | Find out | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| A golf glove | Which hand and what size | The old glove in the bag pocket. Sizes run S to XL |
| Golf balls | The brand and model they play | The ball pocket. Titleist, Srixon and Callaway all make several types |
| A rangefinder or GPS | Whether they already own one | Their wrist, the bag strap and the side pocket |
| A putting mat | Room for it at home | Tape measure on the floor. The PuttOut mat in the finder is 240cm long |
| A lesson voucher | A venue near them | The seller's location map, before you pay |
| Golf shoes or clothing | Their size | Best left to a voucher unless you can check the label |
The glove is the one that catches people out, because a right-handed golfer wears it on the left hand, which is why Scottsdale's FootJoy listing reads "Left Hand (for Right Handed Golfer)" and why the obvious guess is the wrong one. Get it backwards and it's no use.
If they already own a rangefinder or watch, don't buy a second. Point them at our golf rangefinder guide or the GPS watch picks only if the old one is due for replacing.
What do golf balls really cost per ball?
Balls are the safest present in golf because golfers keep losing them, yet the price on the box tells you nothing about what each one costs until you divide it out. Do that and something useful appears. Free personalisation doesn't add to the price of each ball. It simply means buying more of them.
| Golf balls, 5 Nov 2026 | Balls | Box price | Per ball |
|---|---|---|---|
| Srixon Soft Feel, plain | 12 | £22.99 | £1.92 |
| Srixon Soft Feel, your text | 24 | £45.98 | £1.92 |
| Titleist Pro V1, plain | 12 | £49.99 | £4.17 |
| Titleist Pro V1, your text | 36 | £149.97 | £4.17 |
Srixon and the plain Pro V1 prices are Scottsdale Golf's. The personalised Pro V1 is Clubhouse Golf's, where three dozen is the minimum order. Prices can move, especially in the November sales.
If personalised golf balls are the plan, the real question is whether they'll get through two or three dozen of the same ball. Often the answer's yes, as long as the wording is right.
The small print on personalised gifts and vouchers
That wording matters more than it looks. Buy most things online in the UK and you usually get 14 days to change your mind. Yet the Consumer Contracts Regulations take that right away for goods that are "clearly personalised". Citizens Advice says the same.
Scottsdale's page makes you tick a box agreeing the balls can't be cancelled once ordered. So spell the name out, ask someone else to read it and only then press the button. A fault is a different matter, though a typo of your own is yours to keep.
Leave time as well. Scottsdale says its personalised Srixon balls ship in three to four weeks and Clubhouse Golf quotes two to three on its Pro V1s, so neither is a last-minute present.
Vouchers solve the timing, but they carry their own clock. On a Christmas present it starts ticking before they've unwrapped it.
| Voucher | Lasts | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Scottsdale Golf | 12 months from purchase | Emailed at once. Works online or in Manchester, Warrington, Birmingham and Glasgow |
| Topgolf gift card | One year from purchase | Only useful near Chigwell, Watford, Glasgow or Surrey |
| Red Letter Days PGA lesson | 12 months | 111 locations for the one-hour lesson. No golf experience needed |
Ordinary kit is more forgiving this year. Scottsdale's product pages say its Christmas returns are extended until 31 January 2027, which suits a plain glove in the wrong size or a box of the wrong balls bought in good time for the big day. Check the terms before you rely on it, as each seller sets its own.
If you know nothing about their golf
- Under £25: a towel, a book or a dozen balls, none of which needs a size.
- £25 to £100: a voucher, or a lesson if there's a venue close by.
- Over £100: a voucher again, unless you've checked what's in the bag.
What your shortlist means and its limits
Treat the results as a good starting list rather than a verdict, because the finder can't know what's already in the garage or which ball they swear by, which is where the check above earns its keep. Prices are from the date given, stock changes and some sale prices will have moved by the time you read this. The list is deliberately short too, with four funny gifts and four personalised ones at the last count. It won't fill every combination.
Some "See it at" links may earn us commission at no cost to you, which our affiliate disclosure explains. Vouchers appear in every band because they're often the right answer. The ones listed are Scottsdale's because its range runs from £10 to £1,000, though other golf shops sell them too.

Your questions answered
What's a good golf gift if I don't play golf?
Pick something with no size or hand to get wrong: a towel, a dozen golf balls, a book or a voucher. Tap Beginner or Friend or colleague in the finder for a shortlist.
What do you buy a golfer who has everything?
Things that wear out or that they wouldn't buy themselves. Golf balls, a spare glove in the right size, a lesson voucher or a personalised ball marker are all good choices. A voucher lets them pick the rest.
Which hand does a golf glove go on?
A right-handed golfer wears the glove on the left hand and a left-handed golfer on the right. Shops list it the same way, so check the old glove in their bag before you order.
Can I return personalised golf balls?
Usually not because you changed your mind. The Consumer Contracts Regulations exclude clearly personalised goods from the right to cancel. Scottsdale's page asks you to agree to this before ordering. Faulty goods are different.
Do golf gift vouchers expire?
Scottsdale Golf vouchers and Topgolf gift cards last 12 months from the date of purchase. Red Letter Days lists 12 months on its PGA lesson. Check the date on yours and tell the golfer.
Is the golf gift finder free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, nothing you tap is stored and it works on a phone. Some retailer links may earn us commission at no cost to you.
