We research golf gadgets and show our working. We don't test kit by hand and we won't pretend otherwise. What we do is gather the facts, check them twice and explain what they mean for your game.
Where our facts come from
- Specifications: the maker's own product page.
- Prices: a UK retailer's page on the day we checked. Prices change, so we show the date.
- Rules: the R&A, the USGA and England Golf.
- Performance in use: named independent testers, credited and linked, so you can read their work yourself.
Every guide ends with a list of its sources and the date each one was checked.
How we decide what's best for who
We don't crown one winner for everybody. A 28-handicapper with a bad back and a scratch player on a county card want different things. So we say who each product suits and why, using the facts on the page. We also say who it doesn't suit.
You won't find stars or scores out of ten here. A score would suggest a measurement we haven't made.
Commission never picks the product
We choose what's right first, then add a retailer link if one stocks it. A product can appear with no shop link at all. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
How a page gets checked
- Research: the top pages on the subject, the makers' specifications and the rules.
- Writing, to a strict standard: no claim without a source.
- A separate fact-check that re-opens every source and corrects anything wrong.
- Corrections after publishing, whenever a reader or a maker tells us something has changed.
AI and our pictures
We use AI to help research and draft our pages and then to fact-check them. Tom Armstrong, the editor, is responsible for what's published. The pictures at the top of our guides are AI-made illustrations of golfing scenes. They aren't photos of the products or evidence of testing.
